CRA guidelines allow for up to 10% of approved Health Spending Account (HSA) expenses in an individual claim to be allocated to medical Over-the-Counter expenses.
For example, if your approved HSA expenses in a claim total $100.00, we can reimburse up to 10%, or $10.00, of submitted Over-the-Counter medical expenses. Please Note: Over-the-Counter medical expenses must be submitted with eligible HSA expenses.
If you submit multiple expenses within the same claim, our adjudicators will first review the regularly eligible HSA expenses to find the total approved amount, and then review your OTC expenses so we can reimburse up to 10% of the eligible total.
